Losing your data is never a good thing. You may accidently delete something that you later realize you need, a virus attack may leave you without some much needed files, or you may format a USB stick without realizing there’s data you need on it. Data recovery tools specialize in dealing with such situations – they will scan for and recover lost files. Alex Mokrov’s Back2Life application is such a tool. As its name suggests, it will bring deleted files back to life.

You can install Back2Life on PCs powered by any Windows edition from Windows 95 onward. A setup wizard guides you through the Back2Life installation. Just download a 383KB executable, run it, and you will be presented with the aforementioned setup wizard.

Getting your lost data back with the Back2Life application is a simple three-step process:
Step 1 – select the drive you want to scan. You can choose any drive you want.
Step 2 – pick between a Fast Scan that finds erased or lost files and folders or a Deep Scan that finds data on reformatted or corrupted disks.
Step 3 – select the files you want to recover and recover them.

Please note that Back2Life is not freeware. The trial version will let you recover your lost data while reminding you that you should register.

You should also note that data recovery is not foolproof. Deleted or lost data can sometimes remain lost; the data recovery tool may be unable to bring it back. If you have important data that you don’t want to lose, you should make sure to back it up.

Back2Life quickly scans for and brings your deleted data back to life.

Pros

It will take very little time to download and install Back2Life. You can pick between a Fast and a Deep Scan. Use the application to recover deleted or lost data.

Cons

The trial can recover only one file at a time.
